I wanted to give a shout-out to both the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams from Bath. Both had “resurrectional” (Is that even a word?) seasons this spring.
Since winning the MAISAD’s in 2010, the girls had been mired in a slump of run-on losing seasons. This year we improved with each game, eventually beating Kents Hill (after losing to them twice during the season) in the semis to earn a trip to the finals against eventual champion Hebron.
Similarly, after losing to Hebron twice during the season — Yes, there is indeed a theme here. — the guys won a thriller in the finals to bring home the championship trophy for the first time in a decade. This, in turn, earned them a trip to the New Englands where they bowed in the opening round to a very strong Pingree (MA) squad.
Great job players and coaches!
Onward, Malcolm Gauld
