So much for ‘Nuff Said.  That same parent e-mailed a follow-up to his follow-up, revealing the end of the story and yet another side to the Maine psyche that we all know and love:

The rest of the story is that the Peaks Island handy man w/all the jumper cables assembled by the police got the boat started. As two police officers and I watched the boat try to make some headway in choppy seas, I asked “do you think they will make it back to Biddeford [where they had come from]?” The senior police officer said: “I just want them out of my jurisdiction.”

Q: “Lived in Maine all your life?”
A: “Not yet.”
