Malcolm Gauld#hyde2016randompics Phoenix w/ Al McLain ’80. Very cool! Early 80s Hyde folk will like this shot from this weekend’s hoop tourney at St. Andrews School (RI). Al would get my vote for Hyde’s all-time premier player. He gave the Phoenix a post-game talk after their victory over Avalon (MD). (I understand that sister Almanda ’81, also an awesome player, was there as well.) After Hyde, Al went on to U. New Hampshire where he is generally considered their best ever and became a 6th round draft pick of the Houston Rockets. He works with kids today in Boston. Over the years he has directed many student-athletes to Hyde, including three players in this very picture.
