Parents Academy is one of the coolest things we do at Hyde. As the name might suggest, we annually invite parents to campus to share their expertise and interests in a broad offering of classes and mini-workshops. Faculty have also been known to teach a class or two outside of the areas where students might normally interact with them. (Above: That’s faculty member and Hyde parent Kirstie Truluck with faculty member Allison Henderson kicking off a class on knitting.)
Yesterday’s program included opportunities for students and faculty to learn about a range of topics that included the aforementioned knitting, the hospitality industry, meteorology, the national vaccine controversy, power writing (Below: Amy Sultan of Norwich, VT and a relative of Kyler Heller ’17)…
Qigong – Moving Meditation (Below: Nancy Rao from Boulder, CO and mother of Aidan Sperry ’15)…
Constitutional Law (Below: Attorney Patrick Lowder of Atlanta, GA and father of Nolan ’16)…
and Art as a Career and Relief Printing (Below: Children’s book illustrator Page O’Rourke of Yarmouth, ME and mother of Duncan ’16).
Suffice it to say that a good time was had by all. Join us next year!
