For some reason, I’ve got Jerry Lee Lewis on my mind… “Come on over baby, whole lotta graduating goin’ on!”
First, daughter Scout graduated from Bowdoin. (Here’s a shot of three Bowdoin graduates across three Gauld generations: ’51, ’14, and ’76.)
Next weekend, extended family and friends will make the trek to Boston’s South Shore to watch our son Harrison graduate from Cardinal Cushing Academy after three awesome years three. (He’s got his prom this weekend!)
On the Hyde front, the top photo shows four Hyde-Bath grads making their graduation speeches with their parents/families standing proudly throughout. Top to Bottom:
Darvin Anderson (Bridgewater, MA) – Darvin spent two years with us where he distinguished himself on the wrestling mat and in performing arts. (During the Spring Prom, he owned that dance floor!) Next year he heads to Nichols College.
Carolyn Moore (Harpswell, ME) – The fourth and final member of her family to graduate — She follows three brothers — Carolyn was one of three seniors to graduate with Honors. At Baccalaureate, she was honored as Female Athlete of the Year and received The Academic Triangle Award, Hyde’s highest academic distinction. Next year she heads to Wake Forest University.
Richard Liu (Yunnan, China) – An outstanding student, citizen, and leader, Richard received the award for Excellence in History and also a Hyde Character Award for modeling the Principle of Truth. Next fall, Richard moves on to The University of California @ Berkeley.
Sam Valentine (Thomaston, ME) – After graduating from Hyde-Woodstock last year, Sam ultimately decided to take a Leadership Year in Bath where he distinguished himself on several fronts, including the Hyde Character Award he received at Baccalaureate for Humility. Sam is headed to St. Michael’s College next year.
Ain’t fakin’…. Onward, Malcolm Gauld
