On mentoring:
“A mentor does so much more than share his or her wisdom with the mentored. The mentor allows the protégé to share his or her achievement, an extraordinary gift.” When you get right down to it, isn’t that more valuable (and meaningful) than a lot of “How To” advice?
On Parenting:
“I think sometimes that only the greatest poets should be allowed to write about parenthood. The ordinary language of the rest of us isn’t adequate to describe the way first children transform our entire universe, from the moment they replace us at its center.”
Although unintentional, he even made a dead-on characterization of my own parent, my father to be exact: “Entrepreneurs fear boredom more than chaos. They become anxious when things are too stable, and often abandon the familiar for the risky.” Yup.
